Caliper fell off on the HWY thanks midus

Well to make a long story short i was driving home on the hwy and the top bolt in the caliper fell off. tore up the inside of my rim also looks liek it messed up the caliper itself. my when came to a complete stop while the rest of my car was moving because it made a groove in the rim got stuck and it was unable to turn i hit my brakes not knowing what went on and it pulled to the right and i was like wtf. got out and was amazed at what i saw. there were 2 foot long metal shavings havning off my rim. well i have midus to thank. i wish i didnt work so much i could of done it right myself. o well i guess you have to do it yourself if you want it done right. o well just thought i would share. c ya guys.

Woah, I'm glad you're okay! I'd sue them, then buy a BBK and some new wheels.

If you want it done right, you got to do it yourself. Glad to hear you didn't die or anything.

go there and tell them u want a check for a new rim...and a refund for all the parts and labor u just had done.....then do it all urself.....then sue anyway....i worked at a Midas.....fortunately i worked with a guy who actually took pride in his work.....but i knew someothers that didnt....i also hyad an issue with Monroe.....i went on for an alignment on my old maxima after i put all new suspension in and they never said a word about my dangerously loose ball joints.(i didnt even think to check while swapping suspension)..so they aligned the car anyway...a week later i had the car in the air to put exhaust on and i noticed this.....i wnet back got y money back and told them they will never have my business again

Well I haven't had problems with midas yet, but I worked on a car that had the brakes done at monroe and those people must be smoking crack. The brakes were just about trash after only 6 months (they charged $70 a piece for the rotors BEFORE labor and then said that it was because she bought the cheap rotors.....?) and they crossthreaded one of the wheel lugs. When she took it back to complain they told her they'd fix it for $30.... yeah they suck. I hate shops, the only thing I go to a shop for is an oil change because it's not worth the money savings and I don't feel like dealing with trying to get rid of all the old oil.

With all the cars they do they are bound to make mistakes. But they should definetely pay for those mistakes. Go there get money back for the installation. A new rim and sue them for the headache of being terrified on they highway. then get a BBK =) good luck man

sueing is not that easy cause if it was i would hit my leg on someones parked car and fall to the ground and sue the vehicle owner and the person that owns the ground for making it so hard.....

I dont think there is much to sue them over since you were not hurt and there was no accident. Be happy with getting your stuff replaced and maybe some compensation for your time and frustration.

That really does blow though. Glad you didnt wreck the car and get hurt.

he already missed his opportunity to sue for big bucks. when the caliper fell maybe the car did a sudden jerk and then he crashed into a something not hard to umm hurt himself that bad then he hit his head on the window and now his neck maybe hurting but you didn't report nothing and like this and no one was hurt and the car was not damaged so just go get your problem fixed and call it a blessing you didn't lose your life .

Mal practice only applies to doctors, you cant sue them just because they accidently didnt tighten down one bolt especially since there was no accident and you didnt get hurt. Just go back and get them to refund you the money and maybe get a little more for a new wheel

he hasnt missed anything. he can very well still claim that the locked up wheel could have caused a major accident that ended up with a few people dead and his/other cars totaled. TIME TO SUE MAN ! i see 50 grand comin ur way. u can so easily win it too !

ps, time to go get a brake job at midas n then loosen up caliper bolts. brb

YES! Lets encourage people to sue for frivalous reasons. That way everyone else gets to pay for it through higher prices on consumer products. :

I don't trust any "kindergarden shops" like these even with oil changes now, after Firestone forgot to put the Oil filter back on my freind's Pontiac and his engine died while driving (he got a new from them, no doubt, but with much arguing and stress)

Don't try and bite off more than you can chew. Get your stuff replaced and see if they'll give you something for the stress it caused you. Trying for much more will cause u more stress and probably getting less in the end.

Go back and ***** their faces off man ! I steer clear of ALL those nation wide chain muffler and brake shops. They all say ASE CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS, then you look at the guys working there and they don't even look old enough to be out of high school! Those places hire anybody. You got a pulse, you got the job! I'm sorry, but I've heard too many horror stories from these places, they're too busy fckin around to care. They still get their paycheck whether they frig up your car or not. Sorry, just had to vent. Do yourself a favor and never go to any large chain place like that for work on your car that involves putting your life in their hands.

When they say ASE Certified mechanics what they mean is we have one that sits in the air conditioning and only comes out when one of the high school tards breaks something.

I agree, there's such a finger in the chili / Wendy's mentality around, all it takes is dropping the name of a major corp. and herd crawls out of the woodwork.

I needed exhaust work done, I went to Midas, they said $400, I said too much, they said $97 incl. tax, I said ok. Never had a problem since. That's the way it usually goes.

Something similar happened to my friend at a discount, they didn't tighten the wheel and it came off as he turned, messed up the brakes pretty bad. Chain shops are good for nothing, find a small shop with a guy you can trust, hard to find, but worth the search. Just get money back for the labor and parts and a new rim and leave it at that. This country is too sue happy as it is, please don't contribute

Its called trama...

If you really wanted to, you COULD sue...but you gota prove all of this...

Then again, getting a lawyer isnt cheap either...

I dont think i would sue tho, too much of a hassle for just being greedy...

Midas pretty much blows. I can list several examples but I'm sure your experience is example enough for you. Locally, it's called being "Midas-ized". Your experience is not uncommon.

If you feel really strongly about what happened and would like to take some action, contact the State of California Bureau of Automotive Affairs. You can also fill out a form online.
