black/clears?

If I got the red/clears that they just made for the 95 and tinted the red part, is that illegal? Black/clears would look pretty sick... Need some thoughts on this though.

The law says you need a red reflector in the rear and on the side soooooooooo if you tint the bottom half, the rear and side reflector won't reflect the light making it illegal (main reason why the APC all clear tails for 95/96 were discontinued and recalled - they could've just painted the bottom part red to make them legal lol)

Depends on the cop and your area

In Chicago the cops don't really care much but in the suburbs they do...

I'm thinking about tinting over the entire lens. The clear areas are a bit too shiny-silvery for my liking.

You're just not used to it yet. I think they look really good on your car.

Wow, they look really good on your car. The extra shiny and clear gives it a very BMW ish tail.

It took me an hour or two of custom fitting to get them that way. That was the first batch they were selling, supposedly they fixed the fitment problems.

Woah, I know they were suppose to have fixed the problems already, but I am still seeing people complaining that they still dont fit well, oh well.

You can host it on a website and link to it.

If you want, email it to me and I'll host it. I'd like to see it.

I kinda liked the look (cause it was a change from the altezas). But i do have to agree, these are by far the best looking "new" red clears i have seen. I wouldnt mess with it anymore

Maybe take some up close pics.

The only reason you are saying the originals look way better is because you're not accustomed to the shiny reflection. Don't get me wrong, I love the original red/clears, but I love these ones also. And in fact they look much better in person. Even one of my friends didn't like them at first but now that they are on my car he changed his mind.

Black/Clears are sick. They look great on flavors with the other contrasts on his car. I think a Black Max Needs to try the Black Clears and See how it looks. Might be sick.

No way, there horrible.
They are in no way subtle and do not flow with the car. There just too flashy.
The honeycomb look they give off is just too much.

Sorry Stephen, but the all reds really looked good with the black car.

Oh I am accustomed to them and still think they are fugly. When I saw the first picture of them online, I hated them. Then when I saw them in person at a local meet, I hated them even more.

Hey, Stephen Max I really, REALLY like those tail lights. I have a '96, and I can't find any tail lights other than altezzas (which I hate). I really like the look of your tail lights, and I was wondering where you picked those up? I'd sure like to get a pair, I actually like the shiny look. It does look like a bimmer, clean. Thanks!

Those tails can be bought here;

I think redlinemax.com carries them too, but not sure.

Don't forget the DTM mod! You can also black them out by painting the inside housing.
