Swapping internals on a MAF?
#2
i have done it. you need to cut the square top off, just the seams that are full of silicone. then desolder the 3 pin plug from the board and unscrew the plug. then the whole board and sensor pulls out from the top.

My question is, why would you wana do this? other than saving money...wich doesnt seem like a very good answer lol

i've noticed people doing this more on forced induction cars if i recall correctly...

swapping the sensor into a larger tube will chage the readings, making them read lower. thus the ecu will send less fuel to the engine while its actually get more air. it can benifit boosted cars if they have a programed ecu or a AFC. i bored out the stock one and it looks like the 300zx in side now. the element is out in the open without the plastic in the center. i made some runs monitoring the voltage output of the maf. it got lower thus reasing the maximum power handling. the car runs fine with it. no track or dyno testing to show gains but it worked.
