Starting problem....update and disappointment

This is so f8king ridiculous

Parts changed;
-plugs
-fuel filter
-BOTH crank position sensors
-cam position sensor
-starter x 2
-fuel pump
-egr solenoid
-2 guage ground wire
-TB/seafoam/fuel injector cleaner

AND STILL it's not starting properly

Now I'm 99% convinced it's this fcking Fidanza...the center ring that sits in the middle of the FW MUST be warped, or some shiit.

Droppin the tranny.........again

uhhhhhh

no, it's something else. The Fidanza might be making it more noticable, but it isn't causing it.

Well in all seriousness could you explain to me how the Fidanza is making it more noticeable?

Man, I was hoping that this weekend would bring us something good... I guess not...
For those of you that don't know, Im in the same spot that Bijan is:
I did a tranny swap ( He did a clutch swap) and we have hard starting/sputtering on cranks....I have replaced all of the above listed items, and also ran extra ground wires, and have come up with nothing.

Bijan- I noticed something earlier today: It seems that sometimes the car turns over/cranks faster.... and when it does that it starts up almost fine.. it still takes it about a second or so, but its smooth... not sputters, or catches...
Unless something ground breaking happens, I think im just going to deal with it, and wait untill I drop the VQ35 in, and hope that that fixes it?... who knows...

less rotational mass. If a cylinder does not fire, or is barely firing with a stock flywheel it will be much harder to notice then if you have a fidanza or other brand light weight flywheel.

hard starts and hesitations..... Don't overlook your injectors or even the coils.

If the starting problem started happening immediately after installing the clutch and trans, then why are you guys looking elsewhere for a problem? Drop the tranny and go over your work. Pay close attention to the pick up points. Perhaps the stock flywheel will solve your problems, but the problem is coming from that area. Bijan, why did you replace all those parts if the problem started happening only after your flywheel swap? I would have immediately taken that flywheel out and tested the car again.

That all makes sense and I will check the injectors.
I'm gonna start a new thread about warped flywheels. I've had a nissan mechanic tell me my flywheel was warped.

I wonder if it is possible to install the timing ring on the Fidanza flywheel in a way that it is not clocked correctly, so that the crank position sensor is producing a signal that is just a little bit off.

Excellent point Stephen! Haven't there been issues with that flywheel and timing rings? Didn't Fidanza warranty a replacement for an org member for exactly that problem?

I would try grounding the engine better. And be sure too make a ground from the lower IM where the harness is grounded too the body. I have had weak grounds there before and it will not start easy if it even will. IMO you should ground the hell out of it. I had this problem with krismax's car and it took awhile too figure out.

My car likes to sputter on start up sometimes. The revs are real low and then they pick up and it begins to idle.

I bought the car from a friend. He had the Fidanza clutch, but the throw out bearing went and the tranny did as well. Replaced the tranny and used stock clutch and flywheel.

I don't know what the problem is either. Doesn't bother me too badly, I just deal with it.

Bijan!
I suggest dropping the tranny and checking the timing gear..
I'm going to do this... because I wasn't the one to do the tranny work, I didn't know there was a seperate gear the the CPS got a reading from....
This could be a solution, seeing as how we've checked everything else....

I got the fidanza + exedy.....exedy broke, I put a spec in for the time being while I sent my exedy back to Daikin. New exedy came.....put it in, it was fine when I left Dixit's house, and started the next day
