I thought the horror stories about Exedy clutches on eBay were about the OEM replacement clutches, not the Stage 1 upgrade clutches.....?

5th gen OEM clutch is the way to go for an n/a max. Lasts long and grips better than 4th gen OEM. Anything more on an n/a max is overkill.

I dont know the part numbers off hand and search isnt working for me right now. Cheapest place to get it is from Nissan. Go look on jerryromenissan.com and get the prices from there, take that to your local nissan dealer and they will sell you the parts at that price. Or you can call DaveB the parts guy at 888-254-6060 and get it from him.

I put an excedy stage 1 in my last 4th gen and I hated it. I would not recommend this clutch to anyone with a maxima, stay away.

I have exedy now and as far as grabbing goes and lasting, its been fine. But other problems including possibly a Throwout bearing and inconsistancy w/clutch engagement/disengagement are what i'm having trouble with. These problems may or may not be because of the Exedy clutch. I guess i didn't realize so many people had problems with them.

I have an exedy in my 95 and I have a ACT street/strip in my 98, I prefer the feel and performance of the ACT much more over the exedy. The exedy feels closer to stock and does not grab as hard (though I do not know how many miles the exedy has on it)

I have the Exedy Stage 1. Ive been running mine for well over a year and have had no issues with it. It still grabs really well.

It will hopefully hold up just fine for you. I have done several clutch jobs in the past, and I just happened to have problems with mine. Normal drivability was okay, it did not chatter, but it would always slip a little before really grabbing. Now you may say clutches are designed to slip, but I'm talking about cruising in 4th gear at 2500rpm, floor it, and it would slip a little. Very unerving. Never had an issue with ACT clutches, other than some initial chatter while breaking them in. Good luck with yours, hopefully you do not have any issues.

When I was researching for a new clutch I found only the ebay oem replacement exedy and the stock clutches (non key value) to have flawless reviews. I found mixed reviews for ACT and exedy stage 1. Since my local dealers didn't have all of the clutch parts in stock I just went with exedy oem replacement for $125 shipped. I already put 25k+ city miles on it and take it to wot every other day. No slipping at all in any gear nor at any rpm. The clutch pedal is a little softer than stock.

Of course I took all percautions which included resurfacing the flywheel, cleaning the flywheel, and following the "1000 mile break in period"

I have had mine in for a around 5,000 miles and it still feels great. Grips well, and it has good pedal feel. I DO push my car everyonce and a while and have never had problems with slipping.

the problem with the exedy stage 1 clutches is the throwout bearing that comes with it .... the clutch disk is fine, but one of the ear on the throwout bearing will break off eventually. I hate to say this, but i've confirmed with alot of other people unless they fixed it in their newer batches.

Here's my thread with details:

I had act stage 2 which destroyed my last tranny. And now I have the exedy which slips if I have 3 or more people in the car or if I floor it occasionally. I came to the conclusion that all after market cluthes for 4gens suck. The reason they were reviewing the clutch so well in the beginning when it first came out not that many people had them for over 10k to realize how fast it starts to slip.

PS Flavor24/7, where doyou get them rims from? Link me please
