Knock sensor thread...Yes again...

Well I took my car in to get the exhaust replaced and scan the computer for the check engine light. Got a knock sensor malfunction code. So I bought a new knock sensor but haven't had time to put it in yet. I'm still averaging 20MPG under city driving and all. Do I really need to change my knock sensor right now?

You already have the sensor... replace it, its a 30 min to 2 hour job... depending on how fast u get that bolt loose. Plenty of write ups on how to change it.

Ya, I know...But my hands can't get into the tight spot and I'm afraid I might screw up. I still have classes and work to go to. I just don't want to screw up.

Theres a way to do it without getting your hands in there. You use a long extention and a swivel socket. Thats how I got my KS bolt off. There is a write up somewhere, I dont feel like looking right now for ya, but take a look at the stickies its there somewhere. BTW Its not this site: http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php
There is a better write-up with the swivel socket way somewhere else.

Get a friend who has small hands and it'll make the job go by a lot faster.

Gains were worth it for me and knowing that my car is CEL free gives me peace in mind.

no way. definitely less if you have the correct tool and a good attitude! There is a thread that even has a pic of the tools necessary. you will need a the correct size socket, (10 or 12? damn, I should know!), swivel socket as well as an extender bar and wrench. then you should be good. just do it!

I checked that page out too. I bought all the tools, just hesitating whether to try and fix it myself or not.
