Steering Help

i just purchased a maxima and for some reason i don't like the steering on it. i feel like i have to turn too hard on corners and parallel parking. not that i don't have enough strength for it but my friend has the new BMW 330i and his steering is much more responsive and much easier and lighter to turn. what can i do to make my steering like that? is it some sort of part that needs to be replaced? or do i need a special mod? please help. thanks

Uhhhhh your friend's car is a brand new 2005 BMW model and you have a 7 year old car that has a decent amount of mileage on it, so instead of starting a thread about this, you could have thought about this yourself, and compared your car to others made in 98 not brand new ones. The year is 2005 automakers had seven years to make a sedan's handling better than it was in 98 when your car was built.

but no, there just might be some part worn out or there could be a special mod for this, yeah i do have a 7 year old car, but aftermarket parts are coming out for old cars every day. look at all these shocks, springs, sway bars, strut bars, intakes, turbo kits,etc.... being in very high demand because of such a drastic change in ride quality. so don't neg yourself out and im sure there is something out there for that.

your the newb, and just so you know, since i added my illuminas/eibachs/front strut bar/rear sway bar/performance tires, my ride handling is much better than my friends 2006 330i which is praised for it's handling, my steering wheel is just a little harder to turn than his(and im sure there's something out there for that too). and you are right, automakers did have 7 years to come up with more advanced things, and these things could be modified to our 10-15 year old cars today. so you and Nissan6 don't know a thing your talking about

of course you can make handling better with aftermarket parts? Why do you think time attack cars in japan tuned by masters like amuse, top secret, and kei office not have the stock suspension setups........................... maybe because they want to get around the track quicker, you can make your max quicker in the corners, but for now its all about the amount of money your willing to spend

Dont know a thing were talking about? hmm lets see you never provided information on what suspension mods you had done to your car that meant that I thought you were talking about the stock 98 maxima handling vs a 2005 bmws handling, which was a stupid question

well your not going to get aftermarket parts/parts for free unless you got hook ups which most people dont.

man I feel bad for you...I am actually kinda embarrased for you... you think cause you throw some after market springs and struts and f+r sb on your max its gonna handle better than an 06' 330i german enginered chassis for superb handling on the autobahn, lol??? .. do you know anything about wheelbase, axles, 4 wheel independent, multilink suspenion, traction control,etc...??? .. im sure you havent a clue.... do you understand the technology that has gone into that 06' bmw?... im sure you dont, I think I speak for "Nissan 6" and myself when I say S H U T your mouth NEWB

well of course i wouldn't get them for free. i'm hoping that you are not under the assumption that everytime someone asks about mods on the forums, there getting them for free, obviously they are paying for them

All you can pretty much do is change the rack, if you want the steering to feel like new. Won't feel like an 06' BMW, but will feel fresh.

well im the one that drove both my car and that BMW you SCHMUCK. so don't tell me all that. your just the guy that reads these things on brochures and internet sites. i drove both cars and ran enough tests on them to say the handling is the same.

I kinda agree. If you look at the skidpad and slalom, there isn't much difference between the two cars.
