Failed Inspection...

I failed a recent inspection. The two problems were as follows:

P0115 ECT Circuit malfunction (Engine Coolant Temp Sensor.)
P0325 Knock Sens 1 Circuit malfunction

I know theres are kind of common problems on a max. Can anybody who has delt with these problems please tell me where the cheapest place is too buy these parts, and approximately how much you payed to have these parts installed? Also any other info that could be useful too me would be much appreciated. Thanks

-Dan

The other one(ECTS) is cheaper and easier to replace than the KS ...

27$ and 8 minutes.

You'd have to be pretty horrible w/ cars/tools/hand movement in general not to be able to replace either.

On this site yes, in the Hyanes manual, yes ... Don't follow the Haynes for the KS replacement though.

ur KS code may be a ghost code that popped up the the coolant temp sensor code...do the CTS first then clear the ECU to see if teh KS code comes back

What kind of octane do you use? I used ot buy the crappy 87 one, and I had the same exact codes. I started to use the 93 octane and like three fillups later, it went away.

I use 87. But I have always used 87. I would rather pay 100 (thats what i payed today) to replace these sensors, rather then pay even more rediculous prices for 93.

It might be $100 now. But you'll see that later down the road your car will more problems. Then how much are you going to be willing to pay to keep it running now? Just spend the $40 a tank and you'll see after the second refill that it totally pays off. Your car will thank you.

it costs 8 dollars extra, you get like 11 more hp, and you end up getting better gas mileage. stop being a cheap ***. i'm 16 and pay for all my own gas w/o a job and i still buy the ****ing premium

Big deal 11 HP. I could care less about horse power. My gas mileage with 87 is good. Plus I have been using 87 for 5 years with no problems. I use 3-4 tanks a week. That would be a big waste for nothing. Screw that. My max is near the end of its life anyway. When your mommy and daddy stop giving you an allowance you will change your ways.

What are you talking about. Any gains in horsepower should be savored. You don't appreciate your car as much as everyone else. You shouldn't have such abusive attitudes. Your maxima can live a hell alot longer. Just take care of it. And I pay for my own gas.

I used to to use 93 when I was younger and did not have to pay. The difference in mileage with my max was negligible. And like I said, extra HP doesn't mean anything to me. It just means I'll have to pay for more gas.

i'm guessing with your attitude you dont change your oil filter when you get the oil changed, to save a couple extra bucks.

I just stuff an old t-shirt in there where the filter goes, and it seems to do the job

I used to get banned here advocating 87 octane. Says you can use it in the manual and now those people who banned me (for a few weeks) are using it. Do the KS and coolant temp changes yourself.

I have 256k on my 95. These engines are bulletproof. 87 gas isn't going to harm it. These engines can probably handle more torque than those 2000 mustang V8's.

LOL, the irony. First off 87 gas isn't going to make your car just start falling apart unless you're getting detonation on 87. My GF's car, has 165k now and purs like a kitten and she's been using 87 for years. 87 yes you do lose MPG and HP, not sure on the exact figures but that's pretty much your only loss. Only problems she had were her KS (and just for ****s and giggles I'll let you know it went out when she first got the car, and was still putting premium in it. It's just a common problem on these cars), and her EGRC solenoid. The latter is an independent part that runs off of vaccume and and voltage, not 91 premium. The whole "you use 87 therefor don't care about your car blah blah go buy a kia not a beautiful max" attitude is a little annoying. By that logic, seeing as how you OBVIOUSLY don't know how these complicated cars work, you should go buy a 67 VW bug. They're pretty simple cars.

Ohhh... I'm sorry.. I looked over to the left of my post, and saw that my "Location" was showing up (Yorktown, VA), but I scrolled to the top and looked to the left of his first post, and he did not have that information, so I just thought he didn't fill out the location information, but I guess it turns out that he filled out his state & zip under "Additional Information" in his profile...
Sorry!

EDIT: Hmm... that post I replied to mysteriously disappeared...
