hey guys, i got my lip in today, unsure about the installation,but the installation kit came with rivet nails, I dont have a rivet gun,do i really need to use these rivet nails? Will it be secure with just the 6 screws and 4 bolts/nuts?

 

Not if you plow into a huge peice of semi-tire tread @ 78mph 3 days after you get it installed

yup super ness .. but in answer to your ? .. I used all of them, and did it behind the lip, hard to explain, but I secured the holy he// out of it. Through the bottom too.

 

I have wanted to put a lip on or even the whole kit, but I just don't want the screws or rivets to be showing in the front. Is there a way for it to be done with out such uglyness?

 

Yaah but it's hard to explain w/o pics, and I don't have any.

Buy a lip, look at your front bumper, and relate the rivets .. and use your head

 

Ironic how you mention this, I had this happen to me last week,...

 

mine was dead center though, killed my y-pipe, shattered the lip in many pieces, and killed my rear O2, (0707)

@ highway speeds, there's not much that is 'unbreakable' ..

 

yea, ^^ and that was carbon fiber ( urethane is stronger) and this is ironic, i dont have a pic, but over the weekend my c.f. lip took a hit, it cracked down the middle almost all the way thru, i have some work to do over the winter now, im gonna fiberglass the crack and paint part of it, it should look good, maybe even better than before? that sucks flavor, what are you gonna do now?

if you have a 95/96 you better screw the crap out of it. 97-99 can get away with 3m tape and 5 screws as seen on flavors car. 2 in each fender and 3 in the middle. i did the same thing and its not budging.

 

anyone have a picture,where you supposed to put the screws in?

 

dam i just used double sided tape, and 2 screws on the fender.

when i got into an accident, i had to take the lip off so i could tow the car, and dam let me tell you that 3m double sided exterior tape is strong!! that lip did not want to come out.

just buy 3m double sided exteriorr tape and your good to go

why would 95-96 need more than 97-99?

I just used the two screws and it worked for me.

 

because the 95/96 dont cover the bumper up to the opening. the lip can come off easy since it doesnt really grip the bumper. it will fall of most likely on the highway.

 

i love those lips, want on too

 

My kit came with rivit nails, but I think I will pass on them and use double sided tape with 2 screws.

 

Ive already ordered another one.
