How long can I drive with a bad differential bearing?

The differential bearing in my 5speed is on its way out. When I accelerate while turning left I get a clicking noise on my drivers side. I was told that as it gets worse, eventually I will get that clicking as I accelerate in a strait line. How long can I drive before the tranny has to be replaced? I had planeed to buy a new LSD tranny but have been presented with a great deal on some volks and if it turns out that my tranny can last for about another month, Ill keep it and buy a new one then.
