Steering wheel jerks (power steering) when cold..

Right when I start my car up, the wheel does not turn freely. It jerks when turning, or shakes. Once I warm it up, its okay most of the time.

Fluid is okay, no leaks

Same problem in the winter - hard to get out of a parking spot. Haven't really looked into it...

I'm thinking it may be the belt. Today, i noticed it squeal a bit during my commute to work.

How would I go about adjusting it? Is the a walkthru or anything in the sticky's?

SO, I had some guys take a looi @ it for me while I was running some errands for work. the garage I had look @ it says indeed it WAS the belt, and they tightened it, warnign that it will do it again. They say the belt is stretched and the other probably is as well.

SO, for 80.00 should I have them do it, or should I try. I'm relatively mechanically inclined....but it looks like a tight spot to get into. How much are just the belts? I cant find them at AutoZone or anything...

i believe no service manaul tells you to change the PS fluid but i did the other week with some synthetic ATF (dextron III). I used synthetic because it has a better temp range. Look in the fluid and lubricant section for help. It could also be the belt too.

Well, I found OEM belts for 30 bucks for both. SO, is 50 a good deal for them to do the labor? I read soemwhere how to do the job, and it seems it might take me 1.5 hrs.
