Now that I think about it ... mine was worse when I initially got the MEVI installed, since I did not have an RPM switch ... I had it zip tied open ... and got ~ 13.3

this sounds alot like what a "qualified" mechanic said to me when i stopped in to ask about an issue i had..said he knew the motor very well, i cringe at the thought of how they would have molested my poor car if i hadn't known better and high tailed it outta there !!!!

14.4? And I complain about 19. Are you planning on installing them yourself and how much did you end up paying for the knock sensor. I may need to invest in one one day.

19 mpg for 100% city driving isn't bad, but if there is any amount of highway driving at reasonable speeds then that fuel economy is not very good.

23-25mpg with a 50/50 mix of city and highway. i got 19 all city mileage as well. i just think i'm a lead foot driver for the most part =P.

14.4 mpg is kinda crappy. Do all the suggested items list above. Most of the time you can gain 1-2 mpg for each thing you do. which will add up.

All together, I paid $135, $68 + shipping for the knock sensor. I'm going to attempt to put in the knock sensor by myself but I don't think I'm going to do the O2 sensor.

For some reason I've been thinking that it cost like $200 for the knock sensor alone. I guess thats if you get it from the dealer or including installation. I heard that it is pretty hard installing it too so good luck.

beacause I provided the KS and an O2 sensor, I had both installed by the dealer for $156

another O2 is about to bite the dust on my Max, might as well replace the last 2 w/ the mileage I have, once my SES light comes back (turned itself off somehow, and the bulb is not burned out)

Ok that sounds like the way to go. I usually dont go to the dealer for installs but I think I would for something like this.

Any shop could install that for you at less cost! Why would you want to pay the exorbitant charge-out rates that a stealership would nail you with?

If you drive it like you stole it most of the time, what should you expect. I haven't calculated in a while, but I know that between, Athens and Alpharetta, I go through more than a quarter of a tank. I was at a little over 3/4 of a tank when I left Athens. When I got back I was below half a tank. BUT then again I do drive it like I stole it a lot.

Can some people explain why tire pressure and exhaust leaks affect milleage. I know my tires are rotting to hell with 0 tread and are probably in serious need of balance, alignment, and air. I also know I have a leak, but can never find it.

To get rid of the leak, I have read to partially clog the muffler to create more pressure so you can find the leak, but I kinda lack the garage. Also whenever you go under the car and it is on, it is hot as HELL down there so how can you sit there for 20 mins finding a leak?

Higher tire pressure, less rolling resistance...and vice versa. Exhaust leaks only affect gas mileage if it's before the front o2's. Mine was at both y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold junctions. This allowed extra oxygen to enter the exhaust and since the o2's read more o2, they told the ECU that the motor was running lean when it really wasn't. The ECU dumps more fuel to compensate, so the MPG goes down the drain. Believe it or not, i got less fuel consumption at WOT than at partial throttle.

I knew where the leaks were because i could hear them while driving and otherwise. It's quite simple really.

Low tire pressure causes more rolling resistance. Inflating tires by say 2 to 4 lbs. over what is called for actually improves gas mileage and tread wear at the expense of a stiffer ride.

I'm not sure that an exhaust leak would adversely affect fuel economy, although a vacuum leak may well do so.

Also, scrhale, you better break down and buy new tires before winter and get the front end and alignment checked out while you are at it or you will end up in the ditch or worse yet!

LOL it gets worse. I am in Athens and I get all my work done in Cumming and I know I can't get it done this weekend and I will be going between Athens and Atlanta at least twice . Toyo 215/65/15 ??? My brother has a Prelude and he used Toyo Proxy 4s I think for 80 a tire and he said it was definately a nice grippy ride for cheap tires. BUT then again he has 18 inch rims and a much larger footprint.

"Your tires should have lasted you 50,000 miles ... let me see ... you are at ..... HOLY CRAP 14,000"

My max doesn't like GA 400 off ramps . I turn hard everywhere so I guess I asked for it.

Toyo Proxes 4 will not fit the 15" sawblades I am still running on my 95SE and I doubt they will fit the 95 GLE wheels either.

Consider the Yokohama Avid H4S if you are still running the stock wheels.

I just bought a set a few weeks ago and quite like them. See the ratings on www.tirerack.com
