I think the whole thing is pointless. It's just trying to add on the same functionless gimmick that Infiniti and Lexus have on the new M and GS class cars. I think Buick and Mercury had that in the 1950's. One of the car builders also had the starter on the gas pedal back then, too. Both ideas died out within a few years.
If you decide to do this, I'll swap ignition switches with you. My switch works fine in "Accessory" or "On" but I have to lift the key a funny way to get it to start. No use wasting a good ignition switch on a car with a pushbutton start. :P

how so? you'll still need to stick the key in and turn to "ACC" before you can start the car...pressing the button w/o the key won't do anything.

I guess you guys never have anything like cell phone chargers to plug in? There's only one power jack in the car.

the proximity keys are a good idea though.

i installed one for my friend...also we installed a keypad that wont allow the car to be started without appropriet code.... here is how it works.... key will not start the car unless key code is entered.....the push botton will start the car without key ONLY if key code is entered....but if key is in ON position the button WILL start the car....
afcourse i dont like the keypad idea adding that it cost alot on ebay...but something that looks nice...thinking of breaking down the buttons and doing custom install along the dash...
