trunk conversion

my '96 got whacked in the back this week. looks like i need a new trunk. I know some guys have done a conversion and put a '97 trunk on a '96 and then put '97 red/clears on it. I would like to do this because i'm not feelin those '96 red/clears. is it just the trunk or does any other modification need to be done to do the swap.
thanks
