Damn groaning brakes again!

So my left rear wheel has started to groan when the brakes are applied , but only in reverse! I sprayed some brake cleaner in there and it silenced it...for about an hour. What the hell could be causing it?
BTW, the calipers were replaced as well as a new ebrake cable about a year ago. The pads have about 1/3 of the meat on them.

My rear brakes moan and groan when backing up the first time I start up in the morning, especially when it is damp outside. As soon as the brakes warm-up, everything is fine. I had a corvette years ago that did the same thing. I was told that the noise is just a resonant vibration of the pads, more of an irritant than anything else. The pads on my Max are only about 6 months old, and as long as the brakes don't squeal and squeak going forward like they used to, I am happy.

to everything he said. To be sure the brakes aren't dragging, just jack up the rear and make sure you can spin the rear wheels by hand (there should be some resistance, but the wheels should spin fairly readily).

you could have some are bubbles in the brake line and might just need the lines bleed and get ur rotors resurfaced while ur at it if that dont work maybe your calipers

Nissan has a TSB about groan on the rears when backing up. They make an updated set of rear brake pad clips that keep the pads away from the rotor. I did mine about a year ago. Works great...no more annoying mooooooooaaaaaaan!

I have the same problem, and only when backing up with the brakes applied...its embarassing because it is so loud when it happens. I just replaced my rear pads and clips with genuine nissan parts from the dealer - and that's actually when the problem started. I thought about replacing rotors but I'd like to find out first if replacing rotors resolved this for anyone else.

OK I'll say it again....Run, dont walk to NISSAN and get the *updated* rear brake pad clips and use ceramic brake pads. These updated spring clips keep your pads from resting on your rotors. They look nothing like the original clips. Check out the TSB's. I couldn't stand this groaning noise. So far 1 year and ZERO noises when backing out of my driveway.

TSB#NTB99-031b
Spring Retainer Kit P/N: 440834U025

It worked for me. YMMV
