Any better How-To to replace front O2 sensor

I looked at the sticky and www.motorvate.ca for a How-to to replace bank 1 sensor 1 Oxygen sensor but can't figure out where to start. Can someone point me to better write-up and/or pics to do it myself ?

Thanks

no offense intended, but it's not really necessary to use a write up for this...either rent or buy the o2 sensor socket tool from autozone, or wherever, undo your negative terminal of your battery. remove the old sensor, plug in the new one, put negative terminal to battery back on and then reset your ecu...very straightforward and simple process...only difficult thing can be the angles and getting to the sensor but they're really not that bad. unless you have any specific questions or concerns, i personally don't think you need step by step pictures.

you may need some wd-40 or pb blaster to help get it free if there is alot of rust or just hard to get off.

thanks for the advice ... my concern was because someone who did it b4 and posted here said that it's difficult to put the wire/connector ... i guess the connector is somewhere close the sensor as well ... i wanna do it myself coz couple of places I called asked for atleast $50 ... i'd rather do it myself and buy the other o2 sensor as well instead of payin them what they asked

At this time, it's all guess work until I get down there but I think the sensor is on the passenger side down under and probably need to jack the car up on the passenger side ... correct me if i'm wrong ... thanks

It would make it easier to jack the car up. Make sure you doing the correct front o2 sensor. It would also be helpful to have a u-joint and an extension or to. I got real creative with it and it made it easy on my rust coated max. Throw some pb blaster or wd-40 on it before you get started to make it even easier.

If you already bought your o2 sensor you should look at it and it will have a connector on if its an oem replacement. If it does the wire part should take you no longer than 1 min to plug it in. If you don't have the oem replacement all I can say is good luck and don't drop your solder iron on your face.

Rear, yes. Fronts, no. The fronts will affect fuel economy and performance.

One last question ... I gotta replace bank 1 sensor 1 ... looking at the picture below, I'd like know if it's the driver's side O2 sensor which is what i should be replacing ?

mine is 98 I30 ... do i have to remove any plastic covers beneath the engine area to access the O2 sensor ?

thanks for help ...

http://www.jatan.net/02Sensor1.jpg Look for HO2S01-B1 = bank 1, sensor 1

This is the one near the passenger firewall (near the oil filter)

thanks for your input in the 4th gen thread on o2 sensor. one last question ... i bought walker OEM type sensor from oxygensensors.com and along with it came a small copper color sachet. Is that the anti-sieze or is the sthg similar to WD40 ??

Thanks

Should be anti-sieze for the threads (don't get it on the sensor part, just put a small amount on the thread). I usually put a blob of it on the thread and use a rag to spread it

how hard is it to feed that wire through the engine bay to where it plugs in? that would be my only concern..like is it tied in to alot of other wires or what.

Jesus, it's an O2 sensor...not any harder than an oil change. Seriously, follow my direction and you'll be fine.

Ok, so if I replace my exhaust with an exhaust without a hole for the rear 02 I should be fine? I believe the rear O2 just checks to see if the Cat is working. Just have to make a choice on a cheap exhaust or a more expensive exhaust. Thanks for all the information.
