I want a *SOFT* suspension...softer than OEM. Suggestions?

Put on a set of all season touring radials and you'll be as smooth as any Maxima can get.
GR-2's are much firmer then stock, stay away from KYB products if you looking for a nice cushy ride.

sounds good....thanks
The Max will never ride like a Avalon or a Crown Vic no matter what you do to it. The Max is not a luxury car. Do not expect to get a ride like that. Check your suspension for bad parts, replace if necessary, go with the largest sidewall tire.

I agree with this guy. Buy a crown vic, it's a better car than the max anyways. That's my opinion now, so don't any of you get your panties in a bunch. I've owned both and this is what I personally think. Less problems, check engine lights, more comfortable, and it's not that slow compaired to a stock max. I'm sure we could stick headers on a vic and see gains too. Anything can be modded.

OK so get Tokico Blue (HP) struts.
Get subframe connectors installed - weld them on.
DEFINATELY get new strut bushings at the top - this is probably a huge reason why your car already rides like **** - they wear out and your car is harsh over every little nook and cranny in the road, it's horrible.
Look at your rubber suspension bushings and see if they are worn out (cracking, smooshed in sections, oxidation, ect...If they look abnormal) and consider replacing those needed, especially the lower control arm bushings....
Lower your tire pressure to under the maximum...I usually go 3psi under the max for a good ride and MAX for highway driving (like a road trip for better MPG). There is no reason in the world why you should have to exceed the max tire pressure! If you have a shimmy problem and you 'got rid of it' by increasing the pressure then all you did was effectively blanket the problem. Your problem is still there, you just hid it. I would find out what is creating that shimmy and fix it. I would suggest considering that a rim might be slightly belt (the tire guys can usually tell you if it is or not), maybe your balance weighs came off your rims, or your tire is shot (pressure bubbles, or it might have a flat spot) and it needs to be replaced.
What about Subframe bushings? I dont know if these are trouble spots on the maxima or not, hopefully somebody can shed some light on this.
But whatever you do, replace the strut bearings - all around. If you can afford it, definately go OEM!
It will never ride like an Avalon, not even as good as a camry, but it will ride a hell of a lot better and I guarantee you will be happier with your ride if you go through with all these suggestions. It might not be SOFT, but it will be smooth.

Here's the formula:
- GLE springs
- Tokico Blue or Illumina shocks/struts
- Full subframe connectors
- Lightweight 15" rims (e.g. Rota Slipstreams or steelies)
- Comfy tires -- I'd suggest Falken Ziex ZE-512 (they're good overall too)
Optional:
- Stage-2 Lower Tie Bar
- Otto, Alutec, or Stillen FSTB

i know what this guy need he need that electronically controlled coilover set so he can change the ride from hard or soft when ridin down those ruff streets, any way i got the same problem here in philly but i love my car lower so i had to go with gr-2's cause my mechanic said tocikos are trash and that they blow in like 10 thosand miles on these philly streets so i guess hp's are stiffer than gr-2's
