White dot on temp gauge

I never noticed this until yesterday, but there is a tiny white dot on the coolant temp gauge that corresponds to the "normal" operating temperature. Look very carefully...it is right next to the needle pivot.

Yes I noticed that dot a few days after I took the delivery. I never asked the dealer, but guessed it indicates the normal temperature position.

I am pretty sure my 94 Altima has that dot too. When at the normal temperature, the needle covers the dot.
