Need help! My RPMs play at idle....????...

Hey guys, the problem is that my RPMs play a little at idle, the needle moves like 1mm all the time. I had my throttle body and IACV cleaned about 2 weeks ago but that was happening before that. I have no CELs and everything else besides that is fine. Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

okay do you mean it idling funny ie jumpy idle or the needle itself moving while the car idles fine?

if its a jumpy idle more than likely you have a samll vaccum leak and if its just your needle, I wouldn't worry much about it.

RESET YOUR ECU !!! Your ecu is still used to all the build up that was inside your IACV and TB, and its compensating for that, but nothing is there any more...reset your ECU and see if that fixes it

Read the stickies and the FAQs. When you initially start the car up it is supposed to idle higher, typically at about 1,500 rpms then it trends down from there.

That statement is completely false.

First off, resetting the ECU as we call it, only clears error codes.
It does not effect, clear or change any operating parameters.
Please refer to either the Haynes shop manual or the factory service manual in regards to that fact.

A hunting idle speed can be caused by a defective TPS. Again, thats per the Haynes shop manual, found in the trouble shooting section.

If Bobo's old, I suppose that make's you "young and stupid"... It doesn't take much intelligence to read the Stickies...

As njmaxseltd stated, this is incorrect. Even if the above were true what you failed to recognize is that the OP said he had this problem BEFORE he serviced the IACV and TB.

They did help you. Evidently you did not care to listen. Check your TPS /FSM, then check for a vacuum leak. Usually an oscillating idle is cause from unmetered oxygen entering the combustion chamber. (I know it is too much to suppose you search how to check for a vacuum leaks on your own, right? So, please read on...)

Check for any loose joints on your intake assembly (post MAF). Also keep an eye out for cracked vacuum lines (usually at the connection point). Get a multimeter with dwell function; set to 6 (going by ear will work if you're cheap and do not care for proper TS'ing). Get some starter fluid/equivalent. Spray various connections between your intake manifold and your MAF. Watch your multimeter for any changes (increase) in rpm.

*Do not be an idiot and catch your car on fire.

Verdict for repairs? Dude, seriously, wtf is wrong with you. How can you assess something that has an unknown predication? Where do you people come up with your thought process? Look the word verdict up please. Grammar is so underrated, yet people complain about communication. Perhaps you mean what WOULD the verdict BE for repair? (Which does not make much sense either.)

Why are you assuming that your TPS needs to be replaced? Who and what gave you that idea? You need to troubleshoot the problem before you go replacing stuff.

I am a huge believer in correcting bad posting regardless of age.

Someone goes to search and starts trying to fix their vehicle on bad advice.

That said, yeah, you got me... did not notice. lol
