need a quick response cooling issues

here's the deal temperature gauge started acting up on the dash, bought one at advance auto parts and worked fine for a day

now today i decided to put in a new thermostat and hoses now when my car heats up the gauge goes all the way to HOT even at idle ???? but the fans click on and off as they should I know there are two temp sensors (one for the computer and one for the gauge) did I get a bum sensor or is my car actully overheating??? thanks

Sounds like you might have some air trapped in the cooling system - from your thermostat/hose replacement.

If the fans are going on and off and your not boiling over I'd say it's safe to say you have either a bad connection or a faulty temp sensor. The sensor that control the gauge is the one closest to the hose.

i did an ohm reading on the temp sensor and I am getting a reading of 134 ohms with the engine hot, i used a Infrared thermometer on the housing that the temp sensor is in and i get readings from 180-195 degrees F i think the advance auto part sensor is bad i guess i gotta go to nissan
