I bought my car from a family member. I have all of the maintenance records from before I bought the car becuase even before it was mine I did a lot of the work on it. I still have all of the paperwork from the dealership.

That's pretty much the only reason why I settled for buying an automatic, because I knew this particular car's history very well and that it was well taken care of. I could have bought a different car but I ran the risk of buying a car that had been abused.

I bought my '97 Max from the original owner in January '99. Have the original owners manual in black padded case -- and all the really good pages are dog-earred!

Bought used (2nd owner). Manual, pouch, window sticker, and FULL service records. Every oil change, everything. Awesome condition for 90k. Reconditioned the leather every year. I've probably put much more wear and tear on it in the last year than they did in the previous 6. ;-) When I was test driving it, the owner said "oh you don't need to downshift to accelerate"... like hell I do! VROOM! Hehe.

Loved it when my BMW Z3-owning friend remarked, wow I think your car has more torque than mine....

I have the manual along with the original salesman's business card and a brochure for the service dept. of the original dealership inside the crappy gray plastic holder. I keep it all locked up inside my glovebox and I have read it, not cover to cover, but the sections I've felt were most relevant.

I believe I'm the second owner of the car so I have no information on the service history, apart from what showed up on the Carfax report. It seems like the car made its way around to a couple dealerships before the one I bought it at. I wonder if I call the original dealership if they'll have the service info. on record?

I have an owners manual on my '96. It has the records in it too. I guess I was just lucky enough to find it in the glovebox. Not that it really matters becuase it is downloadable off the internet.
