Pilot Bearing

Ive got 2 motors in front of me on my garage floor 95 and 97. Im going to be putting a fidanza flywheel, new clutch, ect on the 95 motor, but the crank on the motors look different from each other. The holes for the bolts are the same on both, but the 95 seems to have a large metal bushing pressed in it, the bushing just sticks out about a 16th of an inch from the lip of the crank also no pilot bearing. On the 97 theres no such bushing, but the pilot is there. Anyone have any idea why the 95 is like this? What I want to do is remove the bushing and put in a new pilot bearing. But why is there this big metal thing in there???

The engine with the spacer in the crankshaft is from an auto. The auto's have that spacer in there. It can be removed with a slide hammer, and then you can put the pilot bushing in.
