Monroe Or Gabriel?

Hey, guys.

Which strut brand do you think is better? I really need to replace my rear struts.

Between the two I would have to say Monroe. My last gabriels were big time junk...They looked like they were previously rebuilt - but Gabriel claims they were new...

But yeah, maybe Tokico struts would be better - if you can afford it right now.

umm, Monroe IS Gabriel, or vice versa. Supposedly they are both built by the same company.

I have Tokico Illuminas. They are great, but I think they are a little over priced. Tokico is coming out with a new shock that is infinitly adjustable I think it's called the "D Spec" ? Not sure...

I've had monroes on my other car, they never lasted more than 2 years. I dodged everything in that car no potholes. Stick with kyb, tokico etc...don't bother with those two brands. Those aren't even OEM.

Actually three fairly reputable sources; NAPA, Carquest, and even Advance auto. I was searching for a cheap replacement to just get me buy til I got my illuminas and they either sold Gabriel OR Monroe. So I asked them and they told me that they are the same shock made by the same company, one or the other and just badged otherwise.

Monroes suck big time. Gabriels are better if you're looking for cheap. They are not the same struts as someone above thought.
