Oil Pump
hey when the oil pump goes bad (loss of pressure) can it be salvaged/repaired or do I have to change it? If I have to change it where can I buy it new (can't put in a used one or can you), Nissan Parts?

What symptoms (problems) did the car have that made you take it to a mechanic in the first place? Did the oil pressure warning light start to come on?
If thats all that happened, you don't need an oil pump, you need a new oil pressure sensor. It's a common failure item in our cars. Costs about $20 bucks.
Don't get ripped off, oil pumps on our cars don't usually fail, actually it's very uncommon on this board.

Your mechanic is incorrect with his diagnoses of the problem and after he replaces the oil pump your still going to have the same problem!!
Don't get ripped off, don't replace the oil pump, have him put a new timing chain tensioner in the car.
