whats wrong with my car

i was driving this morning and it made a little clicking noise that went faster the higher the RPM's went. Then it locked into second gear and i had to push as hard as i could with the car off to get it out. Once i got it out it wouldnt go into 1st or 2nd gear. Does anyone know what is wrong with my car.

The average cost is likely much more money than you have in savings considering you're 18. If you can live without your max for a while I can do your tranny for you, and since you're in Connecticut I don't mind driving a few hours to pick it up and bring it to the shop I work at and fix it up. I have other cars I work on everyday so it'd be more of something I do on the side when I have free time so I wouldn't be able to give you an exact time frame as to when I'd have it back to you but I guarentee I'll do it cheaper than anybody else. Plus since I work in a shop I get wholesale pricing through our local Nissan dealership for the parts you'll need so I'll only charge you the wholesale cost for the parts needed, the gas money to come pickup your tranny, plus a little extra for my time. Let me know if you're interested

It's hard to give a real accurate estimate as to what even a normal shop would charge you because it all depends on what parts of your tranny are toast and which need to be replaced which I wouldn't be able to tell you until I actually open it up and have a look inside. If I have to take a wild guess I'd say most shops would charge $700-$1000 to rebuild a tranny (which if you ask me it almost makes more sense to pickup a used tranny for $300-$500 and drop that in instead). Though if you want me to do the rebuild parts likely won't cost more than $200...then I'd say throw in like $50 for gas then around $200 for my time....so you'd be lookin at about $450 for a rebuild vs. roughly $700-$1000 for another shop to do it. And as for how long awhile is...part of it will depend on how quickly I can get the necessary parts which will depend on what Nissan has in stock, but to be on the safe side I'll say it shouldn't be longer than 2 weeks (remember I will be doing this on the side). That may or may not be too long for you, but I just thought I'd make the offer to try to save you some money. If you end up buying a used tranny I'll throw it in for you for around $100.

Dude, you are a good man!! And a smart one too! This kid should jump all over this. I'm sure he has friends with cars that can cart his a$$ around for a couple of weeks. Though I'm sure not having a car sucks, but to save all that $$$ to me would be worth it.

Haha awww you guys are makin me blush! I'm feelin the love on the org! But in all seriousness it's really not that big of a deal. I am SO in need of money right now that I'm willing to do just about anything to get my hands even on just a little bit. My rents are relocating from here in Mass to New Jersey on November 18th and I just can't see myself going through another move at this time (I've moved to 7 different states over the past 20 years and I went to 3 different high schools before graduating). So right now I'm doing all in my power to try to find a roomate and a place to live here in Mass but it's hard since I don't have much $ to offer for rent as I don't have much of anything in savings since i wasn't expecting us to be moving again so soon Ok enough about my personal life, lol.

kcryan - Wellllll, if you pay for all the required parts and can live without your beloved max for like a month then I suppose I could do the swap for you "on the side."

Wow that is a good deal bhmax16. I needed you in STL about 6 months ago when I needed a new manual tranny. I was having the same problems. I spent almost $1300 to get a used tranny, get the bearings replaced in it, and to have it put in. I ended up being with out the max for almost a month while we were trying to find the tranny. If you can find a used one soon I would say take bhmax16 up on his offer. Good luck

I just spent 2300 bucks on my 95 with 153,000 on it to get my tranny rebuilt, new clutch, and short throw install. I made the decision based on the car is paid for, the engine is running great and I just love the car.

real question different topic

How much current should there be with everything turned off? My battery goes dead after 4-5 days. Battery is new and good, alternator is good. The measured the current to be 129mA. I pull the BCM fuse and it drops to 29mA. Any ideas?
