ce 95-6 red/clears
So I'm on the waiting list for the latest batch of these tails (ain't I lucky). I ordered them 10 days ago, e-mailed ce (of course they haven't responded) to find out what's going on and now I'm reading alot of bad **** about the tails from some of you guys. I know there was a thread on how to bake the oems and make your own red /clears but I can't find it. Could someone hook me up with this thread? And how can you get Davidl's (in case I ruin my oems)
Thanks
Thanks

yeah, the CE's don't seem to be turnin out quite right, granted they aren't OEM, but still. the options with 95-96 tails are to either paint the oustide, (some have even put some type of semi-transparent red vinyl sheet which works, i think). DavidL's are no longer produced but look great, making them very rare. There is a pair for sale in the 4th gen FS forum, I believe. expect to pay $200 +.
A totally different option would be to replace the trunk lid with a 97-99 which would then allow for fiment of 97-99 taillights which you could then mod yourself at home, or but red-clears for 97-99. A totally different route, but if you have a damaged trunk lid, it's worth it.

I think they look great. However, fitment is far less than is acceptable and my inner tail leaked water! Had to remove it and dry it out 3 times before I finally got to the leak source--ended up sealing up the outer edge for 2 sides. I hope the mfg got their act together!
BTW, used DavidL's don't look as nice. The paint DL used starts to fade after just a couple of years. The CE tails are just a couple of silver-tinted amber bulbs away from looking just right.

Another problem with the 95 ce red clears is the beam pattern. The light form the bulbs barely reflects off of the reflector. Someone posted a comparison between them and david l red clears and all you can see is the bulb light up and it barely projects any light.
edit: I have a set of brand new all clear tails in the box that I might consider selling, but it wont be cheap.

ah, you're right. i was readin my own writing as i thought it. by saying they "aren't quite turning out right" i meant that they aren't really fitting like OEM, but yeah, that wasn't obvious.
also, you say you have a set of all clears FS? i'm listening...

CE 95-96 red/clears suck, as well as the company that sells them!

Do you guys think these cheaper tails will install just as easy as the expensive CE ones and nobody would know the difference except the owner? Not that i want to immitate CE exactly but i want to save my cash ya know? When working with my car...do i want to go expensive and quality or cheap for tail lights? (i most definitly want quality under the hood)

Thanks 4 the replies. Everybody's got their own taste. When I first saw ce's tails Iwas really dissappointed. I like the soft, polished look of the 97 tails. Thought the 96's looked like cheap crap. But after going back to the site and looking at them again and again I think I brainwashed myself into liking the 96 tails too.
Did I ever see that thread about baking the oems in the oven to make red/clears or was it a dream? I did have quite a bit to drink last week.
Vlasic-throw out a # on the all clears I'm listening
(is that Borat?)
(are you Borat?)
(is that a picture of Borat's car?)
