5th gen wheels on a 4th gen

Do any of you have 5th gen 6-spoke 17" rims on your 4th gen? Are these decent wheels? Someone is selling a set in the classifieds here for $500 with stock tires (low mileage), I'm mulling it over. I have a 97 SE with 5 spoke 16's.

am I the only one that has the 16" 5 spokes from a 2000 SE? I like these better than the 4th gen 5 spokes.
They're purtty.

I prefer the 2k2-2k3 rims over the 2k-2k1 rims. They are decent rims, but rather heavy. I had them on my 3rd gen and like most OEM wheels, the weight is put to good use for a durable product. IIRC, mine came to 49LBS with 32PSI for one 17X7JJ rim on the OEM bridgestone Potenza RE92 with about 30% tread life left. There wasn't a noticable difference in acceleration feel but brakes took a noticable tax with these heavier wheels. Also, these rims will amplify the 4X4 look.

So basically if I put on the 17 or 18's without lowering my car it'll look dumb? How's the ride with 18's? It seems like it'd be pretty rough. I was thinking about going with 17's to salvage some of the bump absorption. My tires are getting down in tread, so the idea of upgrading wheels is on my mind.

I like the 6-spoke. They're cleaner than the 5-spoke 4th gen'rs.

I personally like the 350z wheels. I purchased a take off set on Ebay with 10 miles on them. They looked a little weird on the 95 Gle when I first put them one. I lowered the car 1.25' all the way around and it looks great now. The only thing I do not like about them is Bridgestone re40 series tires. They wear pretty quickly. But the rims are great. I did not like the 18's on put on the car. They looked way to big.

It's not dumb, it will just make the gap between the tire and the wheel well look bigger than it already is (huge if you're stock).

I've always wanted a set of the 5th gen 6 spokes with the large center caps.

17's will be close, very close if they fit at all. Best bet if you are going with the 300Z/Cobra BBK is to get some 350z or G35 18's. No spacers needed.

2000 SE's had 17's not 16's. The GXE and the GLE came with 16's.

These are 2002 6 spoke 17" for $500 with tires. And yes my suspension is stock. It seems that these wheels are really nice looking and would cost about the same as me getting 4 new tires.

Id jump on it. $500 is a great price if the tires are in good condition. I have the same rims and think they look tons better than the 4th gen SE rims.

Are the stock 5th gen tires any good? In the pic I can see they're Avon's. I have Michelin Energy's on my car right now. Tread's getting a little thin though. ~50k miles of relatively hard driving. I just love the sound of WOT too much...

To each their own. It's strictly opinionated. I personally would prefer the 2000-2001 17" SE rims (with the center caps, the 2002-2003 17" SE rims do not include the center caps) painted gunmetal.
