Cone filter question

Noob question of the day: Do cone filters need to be oiled? if so, how often? and what is a good oil to use? I have one of those cheapo ram air kits off of ebay with the shiny chrome and blue cone filter, didnt notice that it was particularly oily when i got it *shrug*

Thanxs

yes, but you should get a decent filter, say k&n, to replace the crappy under-par filter u got on ebay.

it seems to be pretty similiar to the k&n in construction, are there major differences? what do u suggest for oils and frequency of cleanings?

crap ebay filter is inferior in construction to the k&n. usable, but i wouldn't keep it. theres a k&n cleaning and oiling kit you can use to clean the filter with. some clean it every year, i do my civic every 15k. whatever's to your liking.

Yes, use motor oil .... 10-30 ... Synthetic lasts longer...

Use oven cleaner to clean it.
