Well I can tell you from experience what happens when you don't "pop the hood first thing" When I was younger I crashed at a buddys for a few months sleeping on a lay-z-boy and my boy had just gotten his little girl a kitty a few days before. Well I woke up one morning late hopped up shutting the recliner when it gave a sharp bit of resistance I hopped out and found...I had to listen to his little girl tell everybody that D-Bo squished her kitty. Not much fun.

You shoulda kept that cat and sold it. I don't claim to be a cat expert here...so don't flame me ya'll...but that was a Calico kitten. Those things are expensive. My family had a calico.

My ex-wife's family lives in eastern WA where the winters get pretty cold. A lot of times the local cats would end up sleeping on the engine block of their trucks because its nice and warm. They didn't check their engine compartment every time they went to drive.... SPLAT. Lost quite a few cats that way. That's what the pic above reminded me of.

I check every now and then because I found a squirrel in by wedged in engine bay. It was the dead of last winter and well - lets just say it took alot of scraping & oven cleaner & a lot of air freshners till my car was normal again.
