Cruise Not Working
Help, my cruise control stopped working after I "steam cleaned" the inside of my motor. I sucked water and a little fuel injetor cleaner through the vacuum hose that attaches to the boost sensor (located on the stock air intake twords front of car) and afterwords, my cruise stopped working at all. The "on" light still comes on but it won't "set" Can anyone help??? It's really annoying on the highway on the way to work. Thanks.

Check the ASCD relay in the engine compartment. (ASCD = Automatic Speed Control Device, that's the Nissan name for Cruise Control)
Verify that the wires and vacuum hoses which attach to the ASCD actuator are intact and connected.
Sometimes an ASCD won't engage because it mistakenly thinks it has been told to disengage. These are the disengage signals:
- Dashboard switch is in the off position.
- Driver steps on the brake pedal.
- Driver steps on the clutch pedal (5-speed).
- Driver presses ASCD cancel switch.
- Vehicle Speed Sensor indicates speed outside ASCD operating range.
Check each of these items.
There could be other faults (bad ASCD actuator, bad ASCD control unit) but
these are less probable.
Fuses?
I checked the relay (switched with the fog light relay) and the problem is still there (the fogs still work). I checked the only vacuum line going to the control unit from the pump and that seems to be fine. Where would I find the cruise control fuse? I can't seem to find it in the fuse panel under the steering colum. Thanks for your help.

The passenger cabin fuse block is located behind a pull-out panel in the lower dashboard, to the left of the steering column. It has three columns of fuses.
Numbered from bottom to top....
- the left-hand column contains fuses 1 - 11
- the middle column contains fuses 12 - 26
- the right-hand column contains fuses 27 - 40
The numbers are molded into the plastic fuse block. They are not easy to
read. A flashlight will be helpful.
Checked the fuses...
Well, I checked the fuse and it's still good. Any other ideas Daniel? Thank you for all your help already. I really don't want to have to take it to a dealer because I really don't have the money. They want $125 just to look at it. So I guess if I can't fix it myself then it stays broke for a while. Thanks.

2) I've asked people (almost begged people) to refrain from this silly "steam clean my engine" practice.
It does no good, and it can cause harm as your experience illustrates.

Well, my cruise just stopped working to. So I pulled out the "cruise on" fixture in the dash and that was the culprate. A little black connector broke, making the whole housing of the switch loose, so IT NO WORKIE. All is good though. It kinda sucks not having something to regulate your speed for you
