Isn't this a semi-oxymoron?

btw, the guage should be at 1/2 way (or thereabouts) and stay there.

If it drops once you start driving then you have a stuck-open thermostat (most likely).

it used to be a little over the half way mark. and stay there. now it chills at a little below. but its not normal for it to take 15 mins to warm up. it use to warm up in les than 5.

From my own personal opinion you should let you car run for 10-15 minutes before driving it after it's been sitting over night ro any other similar situation.

That's actually considered a bad idea these days... the car warms up faster if you drive it (sensibly)... so there is overall less wear/tear on the engine by driving it after say 30seconds to a minute, than just letting it idle away for minutes at a time.

But now we are straying and this has been discussed about eleventybillion times too many already. So I say /thread.

Everyone just do as you please. The only thing not to do (which is also debatable I suppose) is redline while the car is still cold (especially in areas with "real" winters).

yeah 10-15 minutes of idle is wayy too long and not practical. everyone would be late to everywhere.

yeah it takes too long for mines to get up to the "H" and it gets me PISSED OFF! I spend about 15 minutes rubbing my engine while its in park constantly without letting off pressure, and it still stays RIGHT IN THE FREAKIN MIDDLE......LOL
