now the questions becomes which are better, the KYB AGX's or Konis.....

I mean, the majority of people on this forum have either Eibachs or H&Rs....just because they didn't replace the stock shocks at the same time (i.e. ME, hehe)

Obviously the AGX's will be easier to install, because they dont have to be put in the stock housing....

ANYWAYS....I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS

Don't hold your breath!

Even on the website, they are listed as "special order" instead of the usual "in stock." My guess is that you won't see these until fall. Nice price though.

To be completely honest, I think the koni's have an edge in some respect but not in other's. For example AGX is "better" in the sense tht the rear probably own't have to be removed to be adjusted. But somehow I get a feeling that the Koni's would last just a little longer(no proof of this though) BUT the price of the AGX, $400 for a full set at retail, perhaps group deal could get that down to $350, I don't see why not AGX. I've had AGX on my CRX with some crazy spring rate for a while now and they are holding up great. I hope they work just as well for the maxima.

In the product listing, don't trust the "in stock." It doesn't seem to mean anything. However, if you go to shipping and it says "in stock" then you can believe it. Last month, I ordered springs and GR2 shocks/struts and despite saying "in stock", the shipping section said that they were backordered, which was verified by phone.

excitement

Why is everyone getting so excited about these?
I'm upgrading my rims within a week and that will proably give me some bad wheel gap which means I'll have to get some struts/springs as well...so what is the big deal with these?

How are they different then what everyone is currently using?

They are special order directly from KYB, so it'll take a few weeks, but I just ordered them!!!

I also got the Eibach Alignment kit, and the F&R shock mounts...just to be safe.

Peace.

Do you mind telling how much you paid? Did you ask if there was any special price for Maxima.org members? I will probably buy the alignment kit and shock mounts as well...so any $$ help will be appreciated.

Hey, there wasn't any Maxima.org deals, but I talked to my father, who is a small dealer, and we are going to try and get the dealer price on the stuff. But before that, My total was 550 w/ shipping. 430 for the shocks, 25 for camber kit, 70 for front mounts, 8 for rear mounts.

Hope this helps...

Thanks

Also will a camber kit be needed with a drop with H&R springs?

The mounts I am referring to are ones made by KYB. My max has 72K on it, so I figured, that changing the strut bearings, which is in the mount, couldn't hurt.

I got the camber kit because, there is no way to adjust the camber on our max's, and 25 bucks to adjust +1/-1 degrees vs. Stillens Adjustable camber kit for 200, which adjusts +3/-3, just seemed more logical. I even autocross my max, and I didn't see a need for the Stillen Adjustable ones. Now, when I take my car to be aligned, they can adjust front camber.

Someone earlier posted that the KYB mounts from tirerack are not a good fit. You'd better check this out.

ScreaminFast... I have 2 screen names now. Supa Lao and Dexys97Max. It's been a while man. I'm gonna try and see if the gf will buy the shocks for me, or pay half of them. I can't wait to get this car lowered. I'm hearing it from Chris(Chris91SE) and Jeff (Redmaxpa007) Let me know when you get your shocks. Hopefully they will come by Maxus. I need to talk to the gf and maybe I will order them soon.

Let me know when you recieve your AGX...

I talked to a guy on the groupbuycenter.com and he called KYB this morning. KYB told them the AGX for the Max are scheduled for Fall 2001 release and it'll be at least another 30 days or so before they get them in as KYB don't have them in themselves.

Judging from the prices this place for other applications of the AGX, Shing's suggestion of $350 or so a set might not be too far off! Here's some examples of their group pricing I saw on the site...

AGX for Acura CL, $350 a set
AGX for Talon AWD, $350 a set
AGX for Infiniti G20, $370 a set
AGX for Miata, $340 a set
AGX for 300ZX, $340 a set
AGX for Sentra 95-99, $370 a set
AGX for Sentra 91-94, $410 a set
AGX for Galant, $360 a set

so... he said let them know when someone gets a set and he'll see what he can do.

It sounds like

from all the talk that the difference between the AGX's and the Tokico's is night and day. I am very interested in these and I can wait a month or so to get them if they are not available yet. I group buy would be nice too. I was going to get the Tokico's but it seems like more people than not have bad things to say about them from expierence and not just from what they heard. Thanks for letting us (or at least me) know about these AGX's.

I spoke with the guy at the group buy place. Originally, he told me they weren't available (this was through an exchange of email). I emailed him again insisting that they were on tire rack and that I could probably get him a KYB part number. He emailed me back and I called him. He evidently called KYB again, did get a part number, but KYB said that it would be several more weeks, most likely a month as it was slated for Fall 2001 release. He doesn't know how tire rack can get them when KYB doesn't have them, hence he asked me to let him know when someone actually got them so he could persue for us.

Aww man 30 days.....

Ahh well, I'll have to wait...hehe

As for the shock mounts, they have nothing to do with the CV boots. The CV boots are the boots on your axles. The shock mounts replace the Strut bearing, which can be worn on many high milage cars.

Nobody REALLY knows, until I, or anyone else who has already ordered them, puts them on their max. However, the installation is so much easier. You dont have to cut into the stock housing. Plus the rears are adjustable without taking them off of the car.
