Clunk/ Rattle in Left Front
I've been having a problem for a little while now. When i am driving i notice a slight vibration/ rattling sound coming from the front left wheel area. When i turn to the right, it stops. When i hit a bump there is a slight clunk sound as well. It was suggested to me that it could possibly be the ball joint? any idea? Thanks in advance.

I have this same exact problem!!! And i just changed out my strut bearing because i thought it was the culprit. I wonder if i put installed it wrong because something just sounds loose in there. It sounds even worse after i installed the new bearning. I suspect is is a rubber part.

Left front clunking
My problem was the upper door hinge on the driver's side. Bugged me for
weeks. Of course, when the car was flying, no noise. But on the street and in parking lots, "clunk" "rattle". Open the driver door and muscle it up and down. If the hinges "click" then that's probably the problem. The passenger door hinges don't get the same amount of use, so that door was just as tight as when the car was new.

Now an annoying squeak
More on front-end stuff: I've had a squeak developing for a time and today's cold weather made it more pronounced. It's also in the left front. Sounds like a rubber bushing noise but I can't tell by looking. I was just this minute talking to a friend who knows about such things. He recommend taking it his alignment buddy because that guy doesn't work on engines, transmissions, or the like. He just works on front-ends "period". Sounds like a good plan. If it stays cold and the squeak is constant, I'll definitely try that route. This car has about 150000 miles on it. It'll get a couple hundred more in a few days when it goes across the bridge to Nuevo Laredo Mexico.
Oh yeah, last summer I did have bushings replaced on the passenger side strut (about$250) because that noise just came out of nowhere one day and was a real problem on any kind of uneven road.
I got carried away here. The whole point of this was to point you to a front-end specialist instead of a general mechanic.

Not sure my problem was the same as everyone elses. But I had a clunking noise also. When I would put the car up on the jack & turned the wheel, there was no problem. When the car was down with load on the front wheels & then turned the wheels i noticed the clunking noise. It turned out that my front drivers side spring was winding/ binding up & then releasing that energy. I had to dissassemble my front strut & lube the rubber isolator that mounts on top of the spring. It's been 2 days now & I haven't had any other issues. I also replaced my strut bearing at the same time. Anyone who doesn't spend the $7.50 to replace a strut bearing when they dissassemble the front struts is not thinking strait. It's kinda like replacing a clutch & pressure plate but using a old throw out bearing. Not too intelligent. Spend the money & have the piece of mind that it's new...
