Soft Touch Courtesy Light Mod

Hey all 4th gen's we came up with a new mod some might be very interested in, pretty much ill let this video clip explain itself. it took me about 1 hour to install all the touch sensors, and its easier if you have sunroof, im in the process of making a lil writeup as I say in the video. enjoy

I installed mine last night, works great, not bad for $20... Hey streetz where did you mount the sensor right next to the B pillars or a few inches away?

yea i installed it pretty much at the B pillar like above the seatbelt. since thats the most access u have closest possible to the light and to the rear seat., i was going to put it in the back pillar but then the person would have to reach back and tap above them, also i didnt wanna use up that much cable either. so i think its fine right above the b pillar

Just to let u guys know, this is a very simple install. The only thing that you really have to spend time with is adjusting the sensitivity on the sensors... but that's a simple turn of a flathead slot.

Agreed. Interesting...and this type of touch sensor could be the basis for a number of mods.

hmm... how about a soft touch push-button engine starter and stopper? Match it with a proximity sensor that's attached to your keychain and you're good to go.

Ya and then when you're driving and accidently bump the sensor the car shuts off and you get

I can imagine (when on potholes), all these vibration sensors would go nuts (depends on the sensitivity too I suppose).. I can just imagine driving through Chicago with all my lights turning on and off automagically with each bump.

I'd be afraid of accidentally hitting the sensor when I get out of my car, or someone bumps my car and when i come back to my car in a day or so, it's dead.

Its reversable, you can just remove the sensors and hook up the wiring back to stock, so if you dont like it you can remove it. As far as bumps, we had that problem at 1st, but we turned down the sensitivity enough so that it'll only come ON when the vibration is within more or less 2" around from the sensors. Big bumps like train tracks tho (if you forget they're there and dont have time to slow down til the last second like happened to us) will still set it ON, but on a regular basis it shouldn't happen at all.
BTW, the light's ON/OFF switch is still functional, but to have the sensor feature activated the buttom must be left in the ON position.

rgr that. it takes a bit to get used to and adjust. its like a viper alarm for example u gotta get used to the sesitivities and adjust them with time to get the settings u want exacly. but other than that. its a great and cheap mod.

idea is great but when u have around 154db of bass i think the sensors would go insane. not to mention if i wanted it to work i would prob have to punch the sensor.

Well like I said before, the factory switch is still functional, so you can turn it off no problem.

NICE. njmodi beat me to the possible downside though.
i duno, its not that hard to push a button, i mean, you've already lifted your arm that high, might as well just aim it properly... although if yer drunk it could be good, but then again, don drink and drive.

Very nice, ALMOST pointless, but the idea is worth applause, the fact that this makes the rear passenger almost as powerful as the front is the selling point here...

I think one of those sensors would be nice on the electronic door for the gas tank that the I30's and now some maxima owners have. Just tap that sh't right by the gas tank door and it would open. Of course you would have to use a relay so it couldn't be opened when the doors were locked.

The idea is good, unless you have some smart a$$ friend in the backseat tapping the roof every other second.
