Lowering a Max, springs and so on.

I have a question about lowering a car. If I were to purchase this kit, Eibach Pro-Kit, for example. Would I need to purchase anything to successfully lower the car, such as coil-overs, etc.

Any input, links and so on would be greatly appreciated.

yes, with those springs you will need coilovers. probably D2's.

or, if you wanted to try something completely different, you could get Tokico Illuminas (struts). whenever you drop your car with lowering springs, it is always best to get performance struts, as the stock ones were not made to function at that compressed level.

springs and struts should do ya good. you may want to think about replacing some suspension parts if they look worn or broken.

i was kidding about the coilovers, BTW. just read around in some more threads or other sites. you should get a better understanding of how your suspension all works.

Performance struts are an extremely good idea. At first I lowered mine on the stock struts, the ride quality was poor, and the struts blew after about 12k. Since then, I put on Tokico Illuminas and the car rides nicely and handles quite well.

In addition to just replacing things that are worn or broken, I'd also recommend getting new strut boots to protect against dust, road dirt, etc. For only like $70, it's a very worthwhile investment.

Bottom line - try not to skimp. Do everything right once (new struts, boots, whatever else you might need) and you won't need to do it again.

oh yeah, boots are a good idea. you can go OEM, but i hear they fall apart easily. go KYB. there is a very good post about them in the stickies. read that. the only thing i changed were my boots. everything else looked nice.

So, I need the springs and struts. Also, invest in the strut boots.
How much, roughly, do you you think it would cost to buy all of this.
