Hi guys,

I tried to change my spark plugs last weekend and ran into problems. The rubber boot came off the end of my coil and got stuck down in the cylinder. By the time I got the boot out it was ruined. My car misses bad now. I went to a dealership to see if I could get a replacement but they told me I had to buy a whole coil for $75!!! That is crazy. Anyone have any suggestions where to get one cheaper or have an extra one for sale?

boot

It is the rubber boot that attaches to the plug. Mine is shot and the dealership will only sell me the whole coil and not the rubber boot.

That sucks. I had the same problem you had when I was changing my plugs. My middle one in the back, the suction cup thingy got stuck to my plug. Luckly my friend had a lil gizmo and we were able to get that out. Are there any junk yards that you can go to?

what happened? you were pulling up on the spark plug coil pack and the last part (the boot) just came off and it wouldn't come out?
that chamber in there is preeeetttty deep in there.
I was actually going to do my 30K tuneup this weekend--changing the plugs and all that (of course the PCV valve) --something to look forward to there.

=)

My friend was pulling up one that coil pack. Then he put the socket in there trying to get the spark plug out. But he was like I can't get it. I'm like what do you mean. He's like I think there's something in there. So I take off the last coil pack and we are like oh man...the boot(the thing that wraps around the spark plug) Lucky his dad had this thing that was like skinny and long and had a claw at the end. He just stuck it in there and jiggled around and he got it out. I can ask my friend what that was his dad used, if you want.

i have an extra set(6) for sale.Im not sure if i want to break apart the set to sell individually. These have the Diamond star logo on it. I dunno if it came off a Jap Spec Maxima motor or there are juss differences in 95-99 Maximas.
