Hood got owned...options?

Alright, My moron sister decided that she would brush the snow off of my car. Fair enough. She did it with a window scraper.

Now what can I do about this? I assume it will cost a ton to repaint, seeing as how 70% of these go through the primer, and buffing doesnt fix that... Carbon Fiber hood would be another alternative, but I cant find any from a reputable place, so what do you guys recommend? Help is greatly appreciated in advance! Thanks.

How is fitment? Obviously hood pins are a must, seeing as how the stock latch is prone to failure (or so i hear) What do you do for the struts, Just not use them? (i'd think they are way too strong for a lightened hood..) Finally, how much did it cost you? Thanks so far guys, your making this situation a bit less stressful!

I wouldn't even know what kind of emotion to display if my sister did that. If it makes you feel any better, last winter I told my sister to go scrape the ice off my windshield before I dropped her off at school. I told her NOT to use water because of a small crack I had neglected on the driver side. Well, she decided to be lazy and use hot water anyway and it turned into a nice spider-web.

hahaha didnt kill her, but gave her a good lecture on respecting other people's property ( i scraped up her doll house with said window scraper)

Saying that, I used hot water to take care of the ice , and when the ice went away, i noticed the scratches. It actually works very well, assuming you dont destroy anything because of the heat change. AND IT DOESNT SCRATCH YOUR PAINT....yada yada i sent an email to carbon EFX, if all goes good they have a new customer!

I got mine for little over $400... and came with free carbon fiber eyelids. =)
It fits perfectly and the weave pattern is great. You have to take off your hood struts... I sold mine on the Org for $25. The hood latch doesn't catch the lock all the way so you definitely need some hood pins or you have to modify the latch a little bit. You also don't have the holes for windshield fluid so you need to drill some holes. I think that's about it. Looks good after it's done.

can you get a CF hood painted to match body color?
or is this hard to do? I like the look but I don't want my car to stand out (let's face it CF hood says Rice). not that I will do it now. But maybe in the future (or if anything ever happens to my stock hood).

yes you can paint cf to match your body color, so it can look like you dont have a cf hood.

Well it does need it, but thats another thing thats pushing me toward a CF hood, the lack of "paint" to chip! Ill think about it more today, really its a coinflip, either way i'd be happy.

VIS don't sell CF hoods for our cars.

I have a Carbon EFX Hood as well. I think I was the first to buy one. There are some pics on my cardomain page. I picked up some slightly worn hood struts and they work perfect. I didnt drill out holes for the washer nozzles. I just got used to cleaning my windsheild when ever I stop at a gas station. Definately get some hood pins. Carbon EFX might offer a green carbon fiber weave, you will need to check their website. I have installed 2 of these now and both with out a hitch. The hood pins are by far the most nerve racking part. I can post up some tips if you want.

Check again. They sure do. I asked them this when I was looking for a hood. I called them direct and they said they had it. However they said the Ebay ones that were up for sale around the time I called were most likely fake.

Hello RockfordMax:

Sorry to hear about your hood. Had a similar experience, but had my hood repaired. BTW, if you decide to purchase a CF hood and remove the hood struts, I would be willing to purchase them if they are in good shape. Do you know when they were last replaced? Mine are starting to go -- I am in Chgo, but drive out near Rockford occasionally. Let me know either way and good luck.

CF is nice, but it's well played out by now. Are you saying that if you saw a Camry or Accord with a CF hood you wouldn't call rice? Maximas are much quicker, but not many people know that. I would personally paint the CF hood if I got it... it just attracts too much unwanted attention. Knowing you have a CF hood and aren't showing it off though (painting it)... that's what I'd call badass.
Not to say that I can't appreciate one... but not many can, especially on a family sedan.

Well the reason i'd get it is to save the cost of painting, so that would completely defeat the purpose. I dont really call rice on any car with a CF hood, because i guarantee it cost more than 300 bucks. What i call rice is civics, etc. with their hoods painted flat black, so it LOOKS like cf until you get right up to it. Very cool

no i still wouldn't call cf rice. painting it would defeat the purpose of cf: (1) the purpose in getting a lighter hood and (2) in this case, money issue.

what is the point on having a cf hood and completely covered with paint? why not just get another stock hood then for cheaper? to save 15lbs?... like you said, it's a family car.

but then again... i'm a carbon fiber freak. once you go cf, you can't go back.

Carbon fiber is only ricey when combined with other things like ugly body kits, huge wings, led washer nozzles and valve caps etc., etc.
