Exhaust suggestions

I just bought my maxima and the mechanic told us that it is going to need a new exhaust pretty soon. He said everything from the Cat converter back looked pretty rusty and might start leaking pretty soon. My question is this; Is there an aftermarket exhaust I can buy that will improve performance without increasing the loudness of the car? If so, that would be great, but if not I would prefer to just stay stock.

you could go Greddy. it's pretty much the best for sound and quality. just a deeper tone. not loud and obnoxious. or just go to an exhaust shop and get a custom with a resonator and nice muffler.

I dont know when its going to start leaking, and I would prefer to invest my time into research right now.

No, when it comes to exhaust, a more free flowing exhaust comes at the expense of increased noise.

I've heard the World Sport in person, and while it'd not obnoxiously loud, it's nothing near stock either. Same goes for the HKS which is said to be "one of the quieter exhausts available." They're both definately louder than stock.

If you want to keep the noise down as much as possible but still get the most out of your exhaust, I suggest a b-pipe with a large resonator while keeping your stock muffler.

No. They did prototype it with a forum member, but I think they've since scraped the entire project.
