Questions about the 9004-9007 conversion

After reading Jstutters mod, I plan to upgrade my lights. I understand I need to simply swap out the low and ground wires, but I was wondering about his mod using a bulb and a 9007 harness. Couple of questions for those who have done this:

1. The 9007 harness he used - is that a standard generic harness I can pick up any any parts store?

2. Is it better to mod my existing harness if this is a permament change?

3. 9007 harnesses - I've got the plugs with the wire. I saw that JS did a mod on an existing blub, how in the hell did he do that? When I take apart my old two 9004 bulbs - are the wires there and easy to solder?

4. Any other tips?

1. negative, but i made it with off the shelf parts.
2. yes.
3. magic, you have to solder directly to the terminals after busting up the glass.
4. you are better off just swaping the low beam and ground wires. then if you want more light buy a compleat aftermarket 9007 harness to get all the power to the lights.

When I had the 9004-9007 conversion. I just cut the low and ground, swapped them, and just tapped them up. No burnt harness or any other side effects and worked fine until I did the Cefiro conversion. Now I'm back to stock again with the ever-so-crappy 9004 bulbs.

Thanks for the reply JSutter! From the horses mouth himself. I'll just swap the wires then instead of using the new plugs. Question on the harness - are they the ones with the diode to keep the high-low on when on high-beams? If so, isn't that too hot for our headlight lenses? Or are the new harnesses just increased wire size to the bulbs?

Actually I had the OEM Cefiros and the beam pattern was very nice.
