You gotta be kiddin me....

So I got done with work yesterday and I am in the process of selling my car. Well I go to start it and it makes a weird noise. It sounds like its about to die but it doesnt. When I rev it up it starts shaking. So I started driving it and the noise was still their, and when I started driving it I didnt have the same power that I usually did. So I dont know whats wrong. I need to fix it soon so I can get it sold. A friend of mine said one of the cylinders might be mis-firing and to buy some new spark plugs and that might help it. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks...
Oh, and when I rev it above 3000 rpms it will backfire...

Well from your great description I've narrowed the problem down to Air, Spark or Fuel related.

i concur with jeff's trouble shooting, i guess we can rule out tire pressure and winshield wiper fluid level....

I think my 3rd gen was the same way. A week after i put it up for sale, i see it leaking in my driveway. The water pump decides to go out .

Hope you get it figured out.

could it be simple as bad gas? like they say just double check the coil pack, wires and plugs see if the plugs are white or brown see if any of the wires are fubar looking? look for corosion on the plugs or the coils. also stupid.. thing if you have a stereo system my car and my buddys car ran like **** for a few days and could figure out wtf why.. turns out the ground wire on the battery wasn't on totally and diudnt have enough power to fire properly.. look for codes... miss fire, or whatnot.. also look if your oil cap is on securely and gas cap.. odb2 cars are stupid annoying for that stuff..

12 to go....

Hmmm... It happened just after I was trying to take the wires off of my battery. (It was the wires for my amp/sub) I may not have put the ground wire back on quite right. Thanks for the suggestion... I hope that works.
