Hard to open rear doors

I've been meaning to ask this for a while. My rear doors, probably through minimal use, are very difficult to open and close. I don't know if it's rust or what, but I've sprayed WD40 there and it really doesn't help. Has anyone else had this problem?

hahaha i thought i was the only one so i kept my mouth shut. yeah, people would try to slam them shut and they like wouldn't close! i think if you just keep opening and closing them, the joints'll loosen up over time. it's like the doors have arthritis.

Mine were like that, wd40 worked for me, I just had to make sure and spray real good and work it in a bit. They are loose now.

tru WD40 helped my driver rear door when I opened and closed it 30 times straight, didn't make it over to the passenger side tho..

If WD-40 on the hinges doesn't loosen things up, then it could be your door check. Thats the black arm that holds the door from swinging past it's limit. It's a $30 part from Nissan.

Mine too, no grease/WD40 has worked yet.

First it was my passenger side only, then one day I was closing it and there was this HORRENDOUS snapping sound... much to my dismay I exclaimed oh **** thinking part of the hinge must be broken!

Much to my delight however, nothing apparently broke and all of a sudden the door works just fine, nice and smooth...

Now my driverside is stiff, but the passenger side is still fine after its little "episode"

kinda weird.

It's actually a defect. These parts were updated and it's a problem on at least the 95/96s and perhaps even early 97s. Nissan refused to fix mine under warranty (because it wasn't a recall), but there is indeed an updated part. It's also known as a door-stay. (The same part Tom refers to in his post above).

My rear doors get much stiffer in winter... but I don't feel like pulling the door panels off to change the parts...

I dont know if those parts were updated because my 99 did the same thing so i just didnt use the door because it was kinda hard and sqweeled alot when using it. My 95 and 97 both havent had that problem though.

For the record (I had that one that snapped two posts back,)

My rear doors never made any noise, they were merely stiff (very stiff,) but no squeaking, squeeling of any sort.

Had this problem and sprayed WD40 on it but didnt help much until I sprayed it from the bottom (was spraying only from the top before)
