Code Readers?
Code Readers?
I was going through the Self Diagnostic Sticky and people mentioned the self diagnostic tool you can find on ebay. I checked on there and no one is selling any? Does anyone know where I can find one and how much it will cost.
I was driving home today and the damn check engine light just randomly turned on. I notice no difference in drive or anything else so Im praying its nothing serious because I just got the damn thing.
Is this check engine thing a serious deal or can I just put it off for a few weeks until I have time and resources to deal with it?

You have 4 options:
1) Do this and pull your codes manually

2) Go to Autozone and have them pull the codes
3) Buy an OBD II reader off of ebay

4) Do like I did and take your CEL bulb out and don't worry about it. (not recomended unless you have a g@y EVAP problem that will not go away unless you get a new ECU to fix it.)

I broke down and bought and Accutron 9135 (I think that's the number) since my ecu screw got stripped out my some moron (me). Works great and I don't have to get my fat butt under the dash. I even helped a couple of friends pull codes from their cars. The returned the favor with dinner and drinks. I figure that is a pretty good deal!
I know that some scanners have other functions to it like running tests on sensors and such. A friend of mine let me borrow his Autoxray scanner. It worked like a champ on reading codes but it failed on several sensor tests. I wonder if there is a scanner that can perform all diags (mostly interested on EGR system) and tell me if there is something else wrong with the car.
