I had to bring this thread back.. sorry people. Im trying to find the most reliable coilover setup with out having to change out my suspension in the winter like people are saying. Any recommendations? It seems like most are praising Ksport or D2 coilovers.

Hey guys i'm new here and I'm just curious as to what the advantage is to coilovers over stock springs...I'm looking into dropping my maxima but beyond that i'm not sure what im going to do yet..

Thanks for bringing this back. I recently bought the D2's, but might hold off until spring before putting them on - only because of the rumors that CO's don't handle extreme cold well.

A few reasons that I chose the D2's:

• good reputation
• reasonable price + discount
• teflon coated bodies/threads to resist corrosion

There's got to be some truth to the K-Sports and D2's being manufactured in the same factory - they look identical except for color.

I have nothing to report on the ride yet since they are in a box in my garage - I really want to put them on before spring, but don't want to ruin them if they aren't up to winters (of course, I'm only postponing the inevitable, because once they are on, I'll be leaving them on for subsequent winters)

K sports and D2s i believe are good for the money...but from all the reading i've done

Tein SS, JIC and BC coilovers are all top notch coilovers, supposedly Tein SS are the best riding coilovers but JIC and BC are the best of em all. those coilovers are @ $1k or better as well while you can score K sports and D2s for around the $800 price range. i believe teh difference between D2s and Ksports are that Ksports, i believe allow you to go lower...or it could be vice versa..either way..you arent on a bad path if thats your price range

I say go ahead with the install and spare yourself the anticipation. I have chated with an Orger that has the D2's on his 4thgen for the past 2 winters with no problems so far. He told me he just sprays them down with litheum grease to protect them over the winter.

I'm on the same boat as you, I'm not going to install these and then change out my suspension every winter. Once their on there's no going back for me. Also says D2's and K sports are about the same but ksports are way more expensive... I saw them retail for about 1,800.

^you're doing it wrong...they sell for about the same price

Ksport gt are the expensive ones. The pro version can be had in the 800 range

Yeah the GT are the ones I saw. Your right.. I didn't know there were different versions of the Ksport. I'm assuming the Ksport GT are overkill for me. I'm not going lower than 2" and all I need is for them to be adjustable so I can raise the height in the winter.

I will likely put them on soon - I have 235/50/17's on SL wheels now (came on the wheels but good tread left), so I can't go too low anyway or I'll tear up the tires. I already have a Jeep, so I only need one 4x4.

in my sig is 225-50-17. its about to snow anyway so no need in trying to be slammed this time of year
