How can I check if my car has abs? I hit the brakes on a snowy road today and my car just slid forward, eventually getting a bit sideways. When I turn it on, no ABS light comes on... does this mean I dont have it? V6, leather, power seats, sunroof, etc and no anti lock brakes????

PS: I kinda need new tires too so Im sure that had an effect on things.

 

If you feel the wheels lock up and your car starts to slide forward uncontrolably its obvious you dont have abs.

 

Nice to see you almost answered your own question. Obviously if you slid and became sideways, and you still couldn't tell if you have abs or not I would assume you don't. Generally you will here a pulsating noise with abs, also feel a pulse in the pedal.
