who makes the best headlight bulbs?

so as the topic states... what kind of bulbs do you guys buy? PIAA? sylvania?

i read about the 9400 -> 9700 conversion but i don't think i wanna mess with that stuff right now heh...
plus i have finals comin up, no time

i dont know what kind of bulbs i have right now but they aren't very bright at all. I'm driving and am always tempted to use my highbeams cause I can't see very far ahead. But i don't want to blind the other drivers either cause i hate when i get blinded. I'm not looking for those blue-ish lights either.
thanks!

for the Sylvania Xtravision. They have excellent visibility, even in the rain. I have them and got them at Walmart for I think like $24. Get them, you won't be disappointed.

upgraded harness with 9007 sylvannia xtravisions. until you want to mess with the harness just get the regular 9004.

how do xtravision compare with cool blue?
also do you have to do any kind of aim readjustments? do the xtravisions shine higher or wider or just brighter?

cool blue = the suck screw. The xtravisions just have a higher wattage rating and put out imo a more whiter beam.

Perhaps your headlights are not aimed properly, that's part of the reason why headlight visibility isn't great. Hit the stickies and find the how-to on headlight adjustment. Do that and see if that improves it for you. Other than that, you only have 2 choices: 9007 conversion using Xtravisions or real HID's. OH forgot about the 3rd one, drive with auxiliary lighting in addition to your headlights, ie: stock foggers.

my 1st bulbs were cool blues and they are decent. slightly whiter, but nothing to brag about. they do not look any different than other bulbs acctually, unless they are side by side.

2nd set were apc sim. hid and they are the same as CB, i interchanged them all the time and didnt notice a difference.
3rd set were wagner trueviews and they are slightly purple, i kind of like them.
4th set were xtravisions and they are by far the best

this is the 9007 XV on left and 9004 wagner TV on the right

true, cool blues are nothing special. but the xtras are not whiter nor do they have a higher wattage. they are however brighter, and cast a better light for driving.

Man I'm not sure what it is but that Xtravision looks whiter than what it actually is, I know the output is still yellowish. On the pic it looks white!

You mean 8500k or you paid $8,500 for the kit? j/k

4100k-4300k puts the MOST light on the road. 8500k bulbs are bluer, just for show. You sacrifice a good deal of lumins for appearance. What kit did you get? How "cheap" did you get it? LOL

Cuz they aren't the best, as many have posted. Silverstars have declined in quality over the years.

PIAAs on the other hand are great performing bulbs. I think the members use GTX i believe.

Sylvania's Silverstars are over-priced and grabage, you'd be lucky to get more than a year out of them without one burning out (I was stupid enough to spend $40 on a set of these bulbs at the local Pep Boys when I had my Maxima).

Rice bulbs deliver rice service. Fake HID's not only look cheap and corny, they burn out rather quickly, and the ones that are pushing too much wattage may burn your harness out, unless you spend the cash to upgrade your wiring harness. Sylvania makes good bulbs, as does Philips. If you dont plan on putting HID's (which will blind the hell out of oncoming traffic without a projector), dont bother with the HID look-a-like bulbs (ie: hyperwhite, plasmablue, etc), and go for the regular halogen.

Might damage the ballast or igniter when you throw them, may want to install them instead
