give me a simple answer, please

I've tried to search for this and I can't find the thread I was looking for, so someone please give me a simple yes, no answer...Someone did this already...can't remember who.
5th gen muffler on a 4th gen...other than small fitment problems, was there an increase in power? If I'm going to be getting a new one, I may as well look into this option.
Thanks. sorry for any redundancy but I really did try to search first...

Maybe!
Look at it this way. Since aftermarket mufflers aren't really worth alot of hp anyway(2-5 hp max), does it really matter?
The design is superior the the 3-4th gen stock mufflers so I think it's worth a few hp over them. But the kicker is that the are so very quiet. And I'm willing to bet that these oem mufflers will outlast almost every aftermarket one. My stock muffler lasted 100k+. Let's see an aftermarket one do that.

Just slapping on the muffler using the stock cat-back pipe is not gonna yield too much. But just by design, there SHOULD be some(however marginal) gains.
I have one on my 3-gen VE with a custom cat-back. I like it.

3 - 5 gain on a Catback setup
0 - 3 on a new muffler setup
Catback cost $500 .. not worth it to me for 3 - 5 hp
0 - 3 on a new muffler setup

How exactly does a aftermarket cat-back setup differ from stock?
