Getting panels between windows re-painted tommorow
#1
When I bought my car used about 2 years ago the only blemish that was noticeable was this ugly scuffing up of the rubber panels between the windows on my car. It looks like their were exposed to some sort of heat ray.
Anyway, I was thinking about painting them myself but before I did, I took it to a local auto paint shop and they quoted me a price of $60 including labor to get it done.
I figure between the paint, supplies, and time I would have taken, this is a bargain. Not to mention, I dont know what Im doing.
Im gonna take some pics before and after. Anyone have this problem with their panels?

Yea, mine is fading away! I thought about doing it myself also....wouldn't have a problem doin it (over-confidence) If I mess up...I'll get someone to do it then ;D hopefully it won't be too bad...who'd you get the quote from?

Re: 95 MAX
Quote was from Johnston Auto Body (8136 Lee Highwway, Falls Church, VA 22042) at the corner of Lee Highway at Gallows Road. Im not sure how familiar you are with the Northern Virginia area but it's this interesting brown building with about a billion cars in the driveway.

i did mine.
painted mine black again. went to a local automotive store and ordered black automotive paint and clear in spray cans (like spray paint cans.. you know) taped it off w/ some news paper and masking tape, left it in the garadge for the night, good as new. cost: $40 for the 2 cans of paint and 2 days to wait for the paint, time to paint was only about an hour. 3 base coats, 2 clear, 15 minutes between coats, PPG base and PPG chip-resistant clear

Just curious...
Just curious, how long does it take for the paint to dry? It is supposed to rain tommorow night and Im getting the paint job done at 4. They said it will take 2 hours. I guess Im worried about the rain since my car wont fit in my garage (re-modeling).
Do autobody shops have ways of making paint dry faster or something to that effect?

The finished product looks very good! I was going to take a before and after, but I kinda forgot so Ill try to get some after shots up soon and dig up some old pics of my car.
The color match was very good. The job took about an hour but unfortunatley its raining here now and although the paint is seemingly dry, I spazzed and I have the side panels covered with garbage bags. Just to be safe.
