Vibrating while driving
Vibrating while driving
I just had my car aligned and wheels balanced. Now there is a vibrating when I drive (light vibrating that I can feel in the pedal and also in the floor board. I can hear it also, sounds like a hum. It changes with speed and goes away if I hold the steering wheel dead center, but as soon as I turn the wheel slightly to the left or right it vibrates. Also, as soon as I apply the brakes from highway speeds, it subsides. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Make sure they tightened all your lug nuts enough. I put on my right wheel not all the way tight one time and a week or two down the road they loosened up just enouhg to cause a vibration and i thought my tranny was dieing.

Also, I replaced the passenger front wheel bearing a few months ago, the problem I am having this time is quite different from what I experienced before. but I guess the symptons could be different. Ill keep my eye on it. Thanks.
I think that is the problem. I had it aligned, but the front left camber is at 0.8, which is just into the red. The only way to fix is new struts, that's what I was told. I ran into a ditch a few weeks ago, which i assume bent the strut. I bend the control arm, and the tie rod. I replaced the control arm and straightened the tie rod, so it must be the strut that is off still...Guess I'll have to live with the vibration till I get new struts...
If you're getting a vibration up here in the Northeast, it's probably snow stuck in the spokes of your wheels. Last year when I was leaving work in the midst of a snowstorm, I had to drive through a small snowbank to get out. I started driving on the road, and my steering wheel was vibrating. I pulled over and saw that my front wheels were caked with snow. I put my hand in and pulled the snow out....... vibration gone. The snow was obviously throwing my wheels off balance.
i have heard extra road noise coming from my tires since i put on the z rims/tires. i havent really minded...should i? anything cheap that will correct it or is this the price i pay for getting different rims?

Should be around $200 to replace. I got the same price at the stealership as local garages so I just did it there.
