irotors brake disc (long)
Soooo, the time has come for me to put new brakes on the maxima. what can you do? I've been checking around and I noticed that irotors has been recommended by a few people. Some history of the car...
Bought her used in 2000 and she came with the EBC green stuff brake pads in the front and the stocks in the rear. I don't know if the discs have been replaced or if they are factory and if they have been cut. Either way, I want to replace them with something that is zinc coated.
Don't want the rust....
I'm not into autox'ing or racing or anything like that, but I will pay more for something that preforms better. I'm leaning toward the x-drilled/slotted patters because they look cool and I've got some new rims for the car for next year.
So here's the question... who has this brand and how happy/unhappy are you with them? Any other brand you can suggest to me? I've looked into the brembo and the guy at irotor I talked to stated that all their rotors come from an itilian source. That can only mean one thing right?
opinions please...
thanks

Italian?
I am planning on doing Brembo blanks in the front and OEM or equivalent in the rear.
The drilled/slotted is only good for looks in my opinion. I would rather have more surface area.

I currently have the x-drilled and slotted iRotors on front and back. They've been on the car for well over 18 months. I am running OEM pads front & rear as well. The zinc coating wears away after 2 blocks. The good thing about them is that the center hub area is what doesn't get too much rust, but over time, they begin to have a weathered look to them as you can see in the two pics below. I'm just now beginning to feel a bit of shutter on the fronts, and just recently purchased Brembo blanks in a GD.

IMO rust is INEVITABLE. I left my rotor out just 1 night in heavy rain, BAMN it turned into an ORANGE plate.
I changed to generic rotors, sumitomo pads on my other car and boy that thing feels so much better. Just make sure u clean things, regrease conservingly and bed the brakes in.
I can't wait to do my brakes this winter.

I have the Irotors all around as well. Ive had mine for well over 2 years and there still fine.I inspect them occaisonly to see if theres any cracks, none yet. I used the OEM pads. I didnt want an extremely harsh pad to bite and eat them up prematurely.

Great choice. Blank rotors are the best way to go.

true, the hub area can be painted with some paint and then it will look nicer, but I was more concerned with the life expectancy (spelling) of the discs. The people at irotor said the discs should only last a year or so and they cannot be re-ground. That seems kinda crappy to me. I really don't want to spend that kinda $ on something that i'm gonna have to replace so soon. The discs that are on my car right now have lasted for at least 120,000km's and they could even be the orginal and that would put them over 180,000 km's. I don't want or expect stuff to last forever, but 1 year seems kinda short to me.
thanks for the info
