is the knock sensor code always a ghost code, or will it actually trigger the CEL sometimes?, bc i was resetting my ECU, bc i just got my y pipe installed, and that code came up, but my CEL hasnt been on at all. my mechanic refuses to fix it if the CEL isnt on, so i will have to take matters into my own hands, but it would be good to know if i am wasting my time by changing something that isnt really broken

Do you feel any lag? If so, then your knock sensor is gone. Look up how to check your knock sensor and check it yourself. To answer your question, no, it won't always trigger the CEL, but it sometimes can. Mine did, but it went away before I replaced it.

just rent the tools and return when done. It would cost more to pay to get it done than to actually buy the tools to do it.

KS is a ghost code and wont show illuminate a cel, you'll find it when you get a cel for something else, or pull codes.
